Paskong Pinoy Returns to Vienna for Its Third Edition: Bigger, Merrier and Greener!

VIENNA, Austria – The Filipino Christmas spirit is set to shine once again as Paskong Pinoy returns to Vienna for its third edition on November 21, 2026, promising an even bigger, merrier and more exciting celebration for Filipinos and friends of the Philippines across Austria and beyond.

Presented by Marikit Markt, Paskong Pinoy 3 invites people of all generations and nationalities to come together for a festive celebration of Filipino food, culture, traditions, creativity and community spirit. The event aims to bring people closer through shared experiences, new friendships and the unmistakable warmth of a Filipino Christmas.

One of the highlights of this year’s celebration is the Parol Making Contest, which puts Filipino creativity and environmental awareness in the spotlight. Participants are invited to design and create their own traditional Filipino Christmas lanterns using recycled or upcycled materials. The initiative encourages everyone to celebrate Christmas while caring for the environment.

The contest is open to individuals, families and teams. Entries must be handmade, with store-bought parols not accepted. Participants are encouraged to use locally available or recycled materials such as pine cones, straw, cardboard, old glass and wrappers. Each parol should measure between 50 and 120 centimetres in width, and only LED lights are permitted for safety reasons. Candles are not allowed.

The competition will also give visitors an opportunity to become the judges. Guests attending Paskong Pinoy will vote for their favourite parol by placing stickers on their chosen entries. The parol receiving the most stickers will be declared the winner.

Those interested in joining the contest must register by November 14, 2026, by sending a direct message to @paskongpinoyaustria on Instagram or Facebook. Organizers have announced that only five contestant slots are available, making early registration essential.

The Parol Making Contest is more than a creative competition. It celebrates the Filipino tradition of the parol, a symbol of hope, light and the joyful spirit of Christmas, while giving it a sustainable and contemporary expression.

Paskong Pinoy 3 will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 to 21:00 at Statt-Beisl im WUK, Währinger Straße 59, 1090 Vienna.
